Teen Volunteers

OUR APPROACH

Our philosophy is a compendium of experiences, observations and life lessons, which our staff have observed over many years of youth work intervention.
This includes regular risk assessments which are carried out on all of our programmes, as well as holding appropriate liability insurance, which includes public liability, employers liability and professional indemnity

ST Andrew Youth Development Trust are committed to quality, value for money, safety, reliability and tangible outcomes for our beneficiaries. We are a user centered and inclusive Charity,so it is vital that we get the right people for the job.

We have put in place a rigorous selection procedure that guarantees that we find the right people for the job to guarantee confidence in our staff. Our procedure includes a stringent screening process of all applications against person specification for each post.

Prospective candidates are invited to attend a formal interview in which they must deliver an observed interactive session or activity, answer scenario-related questions and attend a panel interview. In the event that an applicant is suitable for the post we acquire references.

It is mandatory that each member of our team holds an enhanced DBS disclosure, a company ID card, they have the right to work in the UK, and have received first aid and child protection training
.

All staff and volunteers are required to attend regular in house and industry related training and to undertake regular on the job assessments so that:

They have the competencies and skills to provide a comprehensive range of support to our beneficiaries

Their training is relevant to the developmental needs of young people

They reflect the desired aspirations for our beneficiaries
